Step 1 Feasibility Check

This step is initiated and lead by the sustainability champion. In order to initiate a carbon reduction pathway analysis for your building stock, the champion needs to verify with the GIS manager to that the following data sets are available .

Must-haves:

GIS file (in shapefile, geojson, or CityGML format) with building foodprints height, age, and program type data for the whole jurisdiction

Budget to hire an energy modeler/consultant

If you have access to the required data and budget, you can work on the following items:

• Have the GIS manager give you a breakdown of the number of different buildings by building age and program type in your jurisdiction to inform your building archetype selection during step 2

• Engage the services of an energy modeler that has experience at least running building-level energy models and is familiar with the typical building construction in your jurisdiction.
