Sustainability Champion - Profile and Role

Role

The sustainability champion is tasked with steering a jurisdiction towards its carbon emission reduction goals. The champion will often be a generalist with responsibilities expanding beyond buildings to transportation and other sustainability-related municipal concerns. The champion’s role is to bring together team consisting of GIS manager and energy modeler to conduct a carbon reduction pathway analysis for the jurisdiction. Based on this analysis, the champion can go back to their constituents and recommend specific policy steps.

To get started, the champion needs to guide the team through the eight steps defined under the Existing Buildings - Workflow Overview page. To effectively manage the whole process, we recommend that the champing refers to this checklist.
